Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Captioneha collects when you use the website or the iOS app, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
Who we are
Captioneha is a caption studio for the web and iOS (bundle ID com.captioneha.app). We help you turn speech in a video into timed captions, then edit, translate, and export.
Account
You sign in with Google. We receive your name, email, profile photo, and Google user ID. We store that profile in Firebase Authentication and Firestore so we can keep you signed in, show your name, and attach credits and clips to your account.
Video and audio
Your video file stays on your device. On the web it is kept in this browser. On iOS it stays in the app’s local files. We do not upload the video to Firebase Storage or Cloud Run. When you generate captions, we extract audio only and send that audio to our transcription service on Google Cloud Run. That audio is processed by speech-to-text providers (currently OpenAI and/or Soniox) to return timed text. We do not use your video or audio to train our own models.
Captions and library
Caption lines, translations, style, crop, and clip metadata (such as duration and file name) are saved to your Firestore library so you can reopen a project. Thumbnails may be stored on the device. You can delete a clip from the library; that removes the project data we stored for it.
Credits and payments
We store your credit balance and recent purchase amounts. On the website, dinar packs are paid through CIB or EDAHABIA (Satim). That checkout receives your signed-in email and name, the pack you chose, and the amount. On iOS, credits are sold only through Apple In-App Purchase. Apple processes the payment. We receive a signed transaction (product ID and transaction ID) so we can add credits. We never see your full card number.
How we use data
We use this information to run the product: sign you in, generate captions, charge and refund credits, show payment history, and keep the app working. We also store language and theme preferences on the device. We do not sell your personal information.
Who we share with
We use Google (Firebase Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, and Hosting), speech providers OpenAI and Soniox for transcription, Apple for iOS purchases, and Satim / CIB for website card payments in Algeria. Those parties process data only to provide their service to us.
Retention and deletion
We keep account, library, credit, and payment records until you delete your account. In the iOS app, open the account menu and choose Delete account. That removes your Firebase Auth user, profile, clip library, credit balance, and payment documents tied to you. Audio sent for transcription is processed to produce captions and is not kept as a video archive.
Children
Captioneha is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
We may update this policy when the product changes. The date at the top will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
Contact
Privacy requests are handled through your signed-in Google account. To delete your data, use Delete account in the iOS app. You can also review this page any time at /privacy.
